SCHATZI (FOXXY AND PANOS 12.12.2014)
For as long as I can remember, my husband has wanted a German Shepherd. So in the fall of 2013, my search was on. We wanted a healthy, social, family pet, to add to our little menagerie. It wasn't easy at first, until I came across Creekside Kennels. The breeding dogs were beautiful and the owners friendly and approachable. They not only guaranteed the health of their pups but were willing to find the pup an new home if, for what ever reason, ours wasn't suitable. We boldly took a chance and that's how Schatzi became a member of our family.
Yes, we named her Schatzi; our female, long-haired, little German Shepherd pup. She was just a ball of fur, with long floppy ears, and a pension for carrots when we first brought her home.
Within minutes of being introduced to Nikki, our 4 year old Great Pyrenees, we knew we really hadn't taken a chance at all and had made the right choice contacting Creekside Kennels. The two became fast friends. I was worried about the size difference, but Nikki was always gentle and they would run and wrestle together for hours. Where ever Nikki went, Schatzi wasn't far behind.
Snow, ice or water, it doesn't matter. Schatzi can never get her fill. She started, only days after arriving at our home, trying to get into Nikki's water dish. She'd rather fetch a block of ice than a ball. When a snow shovel comes out, she can hardly contain herself with excitement and expects you to throw a pile of snow in her direction. As the weather warmed, the birdbath, faucet, garden hose or sprinkler fulfilled her curiosity, until we bought her a kiddie pool. For hours she would entertain herself as long as there was water around. Now we make regular trips to water parks and lakes. She is a strong swimmer and shows no fear. Keeping her inside our boat is more of a challenge.
Now, a year later, Schatzi turns heads where ever she goes. Her flowing fur is reddish brown with accents of white, with a black nose, ear tips and saddle. It's hard for people not to take notice She is friendly to people but prefers the company of dogs. She is accepting of our cats (more than they are of her) and lets them sleep in her bed, but longs for them to play with her. She is smart, obedient, spunky, beautiful and is most adaptable. Her trusting disposition and even temperament lends well to being a good companion and loyal friend. She travels well and often goes to work with my husband where she makes her rounds to say hi to everyone and then returns to his office to sleep at his feet. If nothing else Schatzi is true to her name - she is our 'most dear, special treasure'.
Many thanks to Creekside Kennels, Schatzi's birth home. She is, as I am sure are all Creekside pups, not only beautiful, but heathy, social and very affectionate. Jennifer regularly contacts me to see if all is well with Schatzi and everyone is happy. It is obvious to me, that Creekside has a passion for the health and welfare of their dogs and is dedicated to ensuring each pup receives the fulfilling life they deserve. We adore Schatzi. Thank you, again, Creekside Kennels.
Sincerely,
Cassandra
