A little over a year ago, my husband Frank and I decided it was time to get a family pet. We have 2 beautiful daughters that are 11 and 8 years old and they were anxious to have a furry bundle of joy as well. We knew right off the bat that we wanted a dog, I grew up around German Shepherds myself, so that was the breed we wanted to go with as they are smart, loyal, protective and very good with kids. After doing some research and contacting a few breeders, Frank found Creekside Kennels. We were immediately impressed with the beautiful pictures of their dogs and how well taken care of they seemed to be. We sent Jen a text message and got a quick response. At that time we were just “looking into it”, so we had lots of questions! We were still unsure so we kept in touch with Jen via email for several months and she was always available and followed up with us in a timely manner, never once putting any pressure on us to “make up our mind” at all. Finally we made the move and decided we were going to get a puppy and is had to be from Creekside Kennel!
Next we wanted to meet Jen, Jay and of course the dogs, so within a week we made arrangements to visit them. Jen and Jay didn’t hesitate once and welcomed us into their home as if they knew us their whole life! It literally took us like 2 seconds to feel comfortable with them and we were lucky enough to see some pups too from a previous litter. We also had the honor to meet Kyzer, who is no longer with us unfortunately. The dogs were absolutely beautiful and they demonstrated such a poised and calm demeanor. We chatted for about an hour and went home reassured after that visit that we had made the right choice.
And the waiting game begins…we wanted a male pup, but we were unable to get one due to an unforeseen situation of Mother Nature :(. Nevertheless, Jen was understanding and gave us some options; we decided to wait for a male pup from the next litter, which was from Panos and Luna. Jen kept us updated constantly and informed us of Luna’s progress during her pregnancy. Then to our surprise we found out that she was having only one pup! On December, 26, 2015, I received a message around 10 am that our puppy was born via C- Section and it was a BOY! We were overjoyed and so excited! At that time we knew it had to be fate, he was meant for us! We named him Hunter, although Solo is his nickname, very appropriate for a singleton! Again, we got updates weekly and cute pictures of Hunter, which helped us bond with him even though we were not near. We waited patiently until we could finally bring him home with us. Jen and Jay were so kind to meet us half way (on a freezing February day by the way!) which alleviated the almost 4 hour drive for us.
Hunter is such a smart boy! He learned to go potty outside on his 3rd day home with us, and within a week he learned the “sit” command. He is a stud and is the center of attention everywhere we go, whether it be at Puppy Class, the pet store or at the Vet. He prefers to chew my flip flops, or any shoes for that matter, socks, or anyone’s extremities, over his “puppy toys”. I guess the thrill of the “prohibited things” are way more fun to chew on, LOL! He is attending puppy classes and learned to “give his paw” and is learning to be social with his fellow pups too.
Our lives have changed for sure, but in a good way. Hunter is not just a pet to us, he is part of our family and we love him so very much. We are lucky to have him and we wish that he is in our lives for many years to come.
We cannot say enough good things about Jen and Jay, they supported us through the whole process and what they do is more than just a “business”, they provide loving companions and happiness to many families. They love their dogs and treat them like they deserve and make sure that anyone who takes a pup home will do the same, so needless to say, we highly recommend Creekside Kennels to anyone looking for not only a great dog, but an amazing friend.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for everything Jen and Jay!!
