Cairo
We stumbled along Creekside Kennels while we were searching for a kennel that could replace a huge hole in our hearts left by the recent passing of our former German Shepherd. These were huge footprints to fill though Jennifer and Jay confidently stepped up to the plate. And confidence is something that they shouldn’t lack. Just from the pictures on their site, one can tell that their dogs are of upmost quality. I sent Jennifer an email explaining our situation and within minutes she replied with condolences towards our lost dog and answers to my questions. After a few weeks, we had a deposit sent in on a female pup that was to arrive in the spring.
To help bide the time, we asked if we could visit the kennel to meet the parents of our future pup. They were extremely open to this and we quickly arranged a date. The kennel also had put an adult female up for sale. She was recently purchased and, despite her beautiful bloodlines, they found that she had a genetic disorder that she could possibly pass on to her future puppies. So, because we never planned on breeding, we considered meeting her during our visit as well.
My mom and I made the trek a few hours north to be greeted by a bunch of big, beautiful, barking dogs and two very personable people. We met both Pixie and Panos (who both have fantastic personalities, I might add) but ultimately, Cairo, the adult female, ran away with our hearts. Jay and Jennifer made us feel right at home as we made our decision and we never once felt pressured. Once we had decided, they easily applied our puppy deposit toward Cairo. They sent us home with food, treats, vitamins, coupons, samples of supplies and ample amounts of information.
In the first couple weeks, we found that, although we had owned a shepherd in the past, we still had many questions. Jennifer was extremely easy to get a hold of by phone, text, email or Facebook and she always had helpful suggestions. She frequently checked up on us and was always eager to hear about results. This showed us that the Jennings truly care about their dogs and their families. Although they both have full time jobs, and other puppy kids all over the US, they made us feel like we always had their full attention.
It has been about a month now that we’ve had Cairo home. She is an absolute joy and a perfect addition to our family. We were beyond satisfied with Creekside Kennels and will undoubtedly return in the future. Despite the fact that they are not Packer fans ;), we whole-heartedly encourage all in search of a German Shepherd to shoot Jay and Jennifer an email! Their dogs are beautiful, have wonderful temperaments, and as a business, they offer it all: Quality, kindness, and years of customer service after the purchase. They truly care and it doesn’t get any better than that.
